Grand Rapids Community College to Host Next Gen STEM Festival Featuring Mind Trekkers

Grand Rapids Community College will welcome families, students and community members to the Next Gen STEM Grand Rapids Festival, powered by GENTEX on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the GRCC Fieldhouse.

The free, open-to-the-public event invites attendees to imagine, discover, and explore through more than 50 hands-on STEM activity stations presented by the nationally acclaimed Mind Trekkers roadshow created by Michigan Technological University’s Center for Educational Outreach.

Often described as a “science fair meets carnival,” Mind Trekkers transforms STEM learning into high-energy, interactive demonstrations. Visitors can expect activities ranging from walking inside a bubble to skewering a balloon without popping it, or even playing a piano made from bananas.

“This festival is designed to spark curiosity and bring science to life in fun and unexpected ways,” said Dr. Kristi Haik, GRCC dean of the School of STEM. “We’re proud to host Mind Trekkers and provide an experience that inspires learners of all ages.”
