Governor Whitmer Visits West Coast Chamber to Celebrate National Recognition

On September 22nd, 2025, we had the incredible honor of welcoming Governor Gretchen Whitmer for a special edition Advocacy in Action program. The Governor and her team joined our team, Board of Directors, Ambassadors, Premier Partners, and members to celebrate the Chamber’s achievement as the 2025 Chamber of the Year.

During her visit, Governor Whitmer toured the third floor of The Next Center in downtown Holland, which will soon become the Chamber’s new home. Chamber President and CEO, Jodi Owczarski, highlighted the vision for the space, included expanding gathering areas and a Career Center designed to connect businesses, students, and community partners in new and meaningful ways.

Governor Whitmer applauded the Chamber’s leadership and impact on the state’s economy. “Congratulations to the Michigan West Coast Chamber of Commerce on being named Chamber of the Year—the first in Michigan to earn this award,” she said. “As your team prepares to move into a brand-new space, we thank you for your exceptional work growing the West Michigan’s economy.”

The Chamber’s recognition as the 2025 Chamber of the Year reflects the dedication and support of the entire community. We are grateful to Governor Whitmer for joining in the celebration and recognizing the impact of their work. As we trailblaze into the future, our new home at The Next Center will be designed with our members at the center: offering expanded opportunities to connect, resources to grow, and programs that help businesses amplify their impact. We invite you to join us in bringing this vision to life and ensure that, together, we create a future where every member can thrive.
