Latin Americans United for Progress is a nonprofit organization in Holland Michigan serving the Latino community. LAUP’s Mission is to empower Latinos to participate in creating a better community for all through advocacy, education, and celebration. LAUP has been a pillar in the Latino community since its inception in 1964. LAUP has a renewed focus to inspire, equip, and empower the Latino community for the future.

Reports to: Career Development Specialist
Status: Temporary Full-Time Employment (Duration: Upon Hire to 12/31/2025)
Rate: $20 - $25/hr, depending on experience.
Schedule: This is a full-time position. The role demands a candidate with a high degree of flexibility in their schedule, including the ability to work early mornings and evenings to meet program needs.
Review Process: Evaluation at 30 days.
Vacation: 1 week after 30 days.
Position Summary:
This is a full-time, temporary position through 12/31/2025.
The Workforce Training & Learning Specialist, will primarily serve as the Lead Instructor for LAUP’s adult education programs. As the lead instructor, you will deliver high-quality instruction across LAUP’s core adult programs—including English as a Second Language (ESL), Spanish as a Second Language (SSL), Citizenship, and Digital Literacy—as needed both in-office and at corporate partner sites. In addition to teaching, you will manage essential administrative duties such as administering pre- and post-assessments, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), and maintaining accurate program data to support continuous improvement and reporting.
You will also collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure instructional excellence and participant success. This role requires a strong balance of hands-on teaching expertise and diligent data management to drive impactful adult education outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity to lead instruction while gaining valuable experience in program evaluation and administration, with the possibility of transitioning into a permanent full-time position.
Core Responsibilities:
● Collaborates closely with the Curriculum Development Specialist to develop, monitor, and adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of the diverse students.
● Serve as the Lead Instructor for adult programs, providing instruction and data management.
● Responsible for monitoring attendance, following up with students and ensuring their reengagement in the program.
● Leads program pre and post assessments and adheres to process.
● Ensures understanding of partnerships with other community-based organizations for effective collaboration with external partners expectations for program success.
● Flexibility for instruction in the day and evenings both in-office and at corporate locations.
● Create an engaging and supportive learning environment for all students.
● Ensures the highest quality of instruction.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree preferred; or relevant certifications or coursework teaching English to non-native speakers; Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL).
● 2-3 years of experience in teaching adult learners.
● Bilingual (English and Spanish)
● Strong command of both written and spoken English & Spanish
● Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
● Ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and varying levels of language proficiency.
● Familiarity with various teaching methodologies and materials that cater to different learning styles.
● Proficiency in Google Suite and willingness to learn other systems and tools.
