Position:  Office Secretary

 

Location:  Hamilton Middle School

 

Reports to:  Building Principal

 

Job Description: Hamilton Middle School is seeking an energetic, personable, team player who enjoys working with students. Applicants must also be skilled at providing outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment in which interruptions are the norm and the ability to be flexible and multi-task is essential.

 

Qualifications:   The ideal candidate for this position must also be:

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Passionate about spending time with students and building relationships.
  • Highly organized and efficient.
  • A positive contributor, who is forward-thinking.
  • An effective communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Self-directed and able to take initiative in day-to-day and crisis situations.
  • A creative, solution-oriented, problem solver.
  • Comfortable providing medical intervention and ongoing medical support to students and staff members as needed. (Training to support specific ongoing medical conditions, as well as the distribution of medications will be provided)
  • Knowledgeable regarding PC computer systems and Google Applications (Drive, Calendars, Docs, etc.)
  • Skilled in word processing (Microsoft Word, Google Docs) and spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets)
  • Proficient with data entry and management of various web-based databases such as PowerSchool (School Connects), MUNIS, MICR, FinalForms, RedRover, and Foxbright.
  • Experienced with payroll processing.
  • Able to handle confidential information.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations

 

Hours: 40 hours/week for approximately 40 weeks of the year

 

Rate of Pay: $17.61

 

Working Conditions:  Hamilton Middle School is a 5th-8th grade building and home to approximately 750 middle school students, including 2 special education programs, and approximately 65 full/part-time staff members.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, read, operate a computer or other devices, reach with hands or arms, and may occasionally push or lift up to 25+ lbs.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Hamilton Community Schools is a rural district located in West Michigan south of Holland and east of Saugatuck.  Our well-maintained district consists of four elementary buildings (Bentheim, Blue Star, Hamilton Elementary, and Sandyview) along with one middle school, one high school, and Hamilton FLEX (Virtual, Blended, and Shared Time options).
