Organization Overview
My House Ministry (MHM) provides safe housing and an 18-month faith-based restorative program for women and mothers with children transitioning from shelters, residential rehab, homelessness and poverty. Women in the program are empowered to gain the life skills needed to break free from cycles of abuse, addiction, homelessness, and chaos and live independently.
MHM is an accredited substance use disorder transitional housing provider with Ottawa County Community Mental Health and has state and national addiction recovery certifications (MARR, NARR).
Position Summary
My House Ministry (MHM) seeks a dynamic Executive Director to stabilize and strengthen our established ministry. The director will reinforce programs, finances, and operations to ensure long-term sustainability. We seek a collaborative leader who can strategically organize the ministry, build and empower staff for efficient effective operations. This individual will foster a culture of trust and teamwork with staff and the board while serving as a transparent, mission-driven representative of the organization.
The ideal candidate will bring nonprofit leadership experience, knowledge of trauma-informed care, and a heart for advocacy. As a visible and compelling ambassador for MHM, the Executive Director will champion our mission and engage the broader community.

Summary of Key Responsibilities
Organizational Leadership and Team Development
- Build, organize, and support a high performing team that fosters trust, cooperation, learning, and accountability.
- Maintain a Christ-centered culture rooted in prayer and values that guide organizational decisions and operations.
- Assess current systems, refresh the vision, and implement a stabilization plan for effective, efficient operations.
- Oversee annual budgeting, financial planning and reporting to ensure fiscal health and sustainability.
Program Development and Evaluation
- In collaboration with the program manager, ensure the continued refinement of program quality and the effectiveness of program delivery.
- Develop and implement evaluation metrics that measure program integrity, accomplishments, and outcomes.
- Maintain stable program occupancy through ongoing monitoring, addressing barriers, and refining processes.
Advocacy and Public Presence
- Serve as the primary representative of the organization to the public, building awareness of its mission and programs.
- Clarify and strengthen MHM’s brand and storytelling to ensure consistent, effective communication.
- Cultivate and steward strong relationships with donors, churches, community leaders, and other stakeholders.
- Develop new partners with agencies, nonprofits, businesses, and volunteers to support and advocate for MHM.
Fundraising and Board Partnership
- In collaboration with the board and development staff, design and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to diversify and grow revenue.
- Engage the Board of Directors as strategic partners by providing timely updates and actionable insights.
- Prepare and present policy recommendations, implement board-approved initiatives, and ensure adherence to governance directives.
Required Qualifications
- A strong Christian faith and commitment to the mission of serving women in need.
- Nonprofit leadership experience with programs serving similar populations.
- Working knowledge, training, and thorough understanding of trauma-informed care, addiction recovery, and delivery of services to women.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead effective teams.
- Proven experience with developing and managing budgets, financial management, and ensuring accountability.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to listen and engage with diverse stakeholders.
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fundraising experience, including donor cultivation and grant development.
- Experience administering a recovery program.
- Advanced degree or additional training in nonprofit management, social work, or related field.
- Adaptability, resilience, and humility in leadership.
- Demonstrated compassion, honesty, transparency and integrity.
