Broadcasting Intern with West Ottawa Broadcasting News
Location: West Ottawa High School Campus
WOBN is a growing high school broadcasting organization with four separate broadcasting classes, including a growing live production component. Students adopt the growth mindset in each class with different projects and technologies and become both producers and critics of media. Join WOBN to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge broadcasting technology while developing key communication and leadership skills. You’ll collaborate closely with students and staff, mentor peers, and build real-world media projects that will enhance your portfolio and prepare you for advanced studies or careers in communications and media.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation, setup, and execution of live broadcasts, including athletics and school events
- Operate cameras, audio boards, and live-streaming software
- Participate in video editing, post-production, and graphic design
- Collaborate with students and staff to plan and develop new media content
- Mentor or support students as needed
Qualifications:
- Video editing and live production experience
- College student currently pursuing a communications degree
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Produce live events on Daktronics video boards in our stadium and gym.
- Cover events anywhere on campus with our mobile production cart featuring a Mini-TriCaster, PTZ cameras, and ClearCom.
- Get live broadcasting experience in the WOBN production booth at the stadium.
- Hone editing and project management skills in the classroom computer lab, fully equipped with Adobe Creative Cloud and Evo Asset Management.
- Access 4K handheld camcorders and shotgun microphones for field work—available for checkout.
