Briefly describe the opportunity: | CASA is an after school program based on academic achievement and mentorship. We are seeking individuals and/or businesses that would be interested speaking with/ engaging with our students and their mentors about a range of topics. Focusing on STEM , careers, reading, local business, etc. This could be through presentation, question and answer, hands on learning experiences, or simple volunteer mentorship as well (helping with homework/academics). We strive to find new engagement opportunities for our students that will also tie back to the community they live in. |
Date(s) and time(s): | CASA runs Monday-Thursday during the academic year, 3:30-5:30 most days (Wednesdays are 3:00-5:00). Their is flexibility on time and length for presenters/activities to come in. Dates are also flexible. CASA runs through the 2nd week of December for fall programing ( 12/10 & 12/11) |
Grade(s) or Age(s) of students participating: | Students are grades 1st-5th |
Number of students participating: | 25 |
What is the goal of the experience? | The goal is for students to be engaged, have fun, and get a break from their routine some. It could be something as simple as leading a hands on art project or designing and building, playing a game, the goal is to engage our students and expand their thinking/ broaden their horizons. |
What topics or area of expertise would you like the professional to address? | CASA focuses on academic achievement so areas related to academics, STEM, and other topics are always appreciated |
What is required of the individual/organization participating? | An open mind and flexibility. We have basic supplies and presentation capabilities. We are happy to coordinate any of that ahead of time. |
Additional notes: | I know this is a broad ask, we again are very open and receptive to listening to what community partners would like to bring to the table and how they would like to engage with our students. We are happy to assist in anyway and will coordinate and help as well. |
